The Department of Geography was established in the year 2018 during the time of Principal Prof. Ali Mohammad Dar. The department was established with the objective to play an important role in achieving all round development of students, enabling them to learn the geographical concepts/techniques, promoting them to prepare for various state and central services examinations. The department has set up a laboratory equipped with maps, models, instruments and related accessories. The department strives to play an active role for the development of the college.
The main aims and objectives of this department are;
o To develop a high level understanding among students about the subject matter in all the vital sub-fields of Geography.
o To boost students with the fundamental concepts of Disaster Management with special reference to Jammu & Kashmir.
o To develop competence among students for inter-disciplinary & multi-disciplinary approach of studying the various concepts, problems & their solutions.
o To nurture the abilities of students in respect of using modern techniques of Remote Sensing, GIS & their applications.
o To promote among the students the values of environmental protection, resource conservation, mutual understanding and international brotherhood.
