In the heart of Govt. Degree College Shopian, where language becomes art and thought becomes expression, the English Department stands as a sanctuary of words,wisdom and wonder. The Department has a rich legacy, having been established in the same year as the college itself in 1988. As a compulsory subject for all streams, English holds a position of utmost importance within our curriculum. Our department plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of over 4000 undergraduate students annually. Our dedicated team comprises six permanent faculty members. Together, we strive for academic excellence and bring a wealth of professional expertise to our teaching methodologies. Being a seminal department, our approach is primarily focused on the individual interests of our students, fostering their personal growth, fund of knowledge and critical thinking abilities.
