Dr. Shahid Ul Islam

My professional focus centers on conducting cutting-edge research in the fields of population genetics, metagenomics, and transcriptome sequencing, with a specific emphasis on threatened medicinal plants of the Kashmir Himalaya. I have a proven track record of expertise in germplasm characterization through both morphological and molecular markers, as evidenced by my published works (Islam et al., 2021, 2023; Mangral et al., 2023).
Currently, my research endeavors are directed towards the molecular characterization and conservation of medicinal plants.I want to contribute valuable insights into the genetic diversity, population structure and adaptive responses to the plant species, particularly in the context of changing climatic conditions. I am committed to advancing our understanding of these critical ecological and conservation challenges through rigorous scientific inquiry.
I look forward to furthering the discourse on the molecular intricacies of plant populations in the unique ecosystem of the Kashmir Himalaya, and I am enthusiastic about the potential implications of this research for biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystem management.
